Story:

This story starts in 1980s with Afreen (Rashmika) a Pakistani staying in London a bigot and Hindu phobic, who was given a task to hand over a letter from 1960s which was written by Lieutenant Ram (Dulquer Salman) to Sita Mahalakshmi (Mrunal Thakur). Afreen visits India she starts enquiring about the Ram and Sita and finds no whereabouts of them.

What happened to ram and the Sita?

How does Afreen solve the puzzle?

Will the letter be successfully delivered forms the rest of the story?

Analysis:

The first half of the film starts with an interesting mystery of Afreen finding Ram which then beautifully unfolds into a love story between Ram and Sita. The scenes and songs between them are visual poetry. Interval bang holds enough suspense which glues the audience to watch the rest of the movie.

The second half carries the momentum with the struggles which occur between Ram and Sita, and how they overcome with strong determination towards their love which was shown by the director very well, the last 20 minutes take the movie to next level with perfect emotional turns.

Performances:

Dulquer as Lieutenant Ram has excelled in portraying a selfless soldier. Mrunal as Sita gave an extraordinary performance as she got to showcase ample emotions which indeed is a dreamy debut. Their onscreen Chemistry is one of the main reasons for the movie’s outcome. Sumanth was decent, and Rashmika was very good in an important role. Tarun Bhaskar and Vennala Kishore  were adequate.

As Hanu spoken in the pre-release event, was able to correct his mistakes in the second half which was true because the second half of the film is better than the first half. Dialogues and song placements are his strength which worked Very well in the movie.

Technical:

Technically this movie is brilliant like any other Hanu movie. P S Vinod Kashmir visuals are easily one of the best visuals this year. The music and Background Score by Vishal Chandrashekar has helped the movie a lot. Special mention “Inthandam” and “Kanunna kalyanam” songs which were pleasing to both eyes and ears.

Positives:

Lead Pair Chemistry

Visuals and Music

Negatives:

Slow pace at times

Final Note:

Overall, the director justified the title by showing their characters the way he wanted but could not conclude Afreen character’s thread properly, her closure to the story could have been more satisfying but that does not take away anything from this beautiful experience though.
